Wine & Food Hop 2.0 brought together food enthusiasts, wine lovers, and curious locals for an afternoon of indulgence & fun. The event featured stops at four beloved Maginhawa establishments: Chica’s Bagnet Express, Urban Chick, Tomato Cannon, Urban Chick, and Wadough’s. Each food place prepared a curated selection of dishes, ensuring a diverse and exciting tasting experience.
The first stop was at La Rosa Vino where Chica’s Bagnet Express booth was mounted. Chica’s Bagnet Express, known for its flavorful crispy fried finger foods, did not disappoint. Their savory, crunchy bagnet and chicken skin offerings were expertly paired with Valdibieso, Brut, Chile, showcasing the versatility of the dishes.
The chicharon bulaklak was a winner! The perfect blend of crunch and saltiness, were complemented beautifully by the wine, making this stop heart-pumping starter.
After the great appetizer, it was then Urban Chick’s time. Urban Chick’s offerings were a highlight for those who love hearty, flavor-packed comfort food. Their rich, savory Cheese Croquetta and Chicken BBQ on a Stick paired wonderfully with bold red wines, creating a satisfying contrast that left many wanting more. The Overstuffed Slider, in particular, was a crowd favorite, perfectly balanced by the deep, robust notes of the accompanying red and white wine.
Followed by Tomato Cannon, known for its fresh, innovative takes on traditional Italian dishes, Tomato Cannon set the bar high with its generous servings for dishes like Hickory Baby Back Ribs and Caesar Salad. Guests delighted in their Margherita Pizza and Arrabiata Pasta, which were paired with a crisp, fruit flavor with a touch of wood and pepper that enhanced the natural acidity and sweetness of the tomatoes on the sauce
Second to last stop was at Wadough’s. This dessert haven offered a sweet interlude in the hop, providing an array of decadent pastries like Three-Chocolate Crinkles, cakes like 20-Yolk Yema Cake and Blueberry Parmesan Cheesecake. Wadough’s paired their sweet treats with dessert wines, each sip amplifying the flavors of the desserts. The Davao Tablea Parfait and its pairing with a Bosio, Moscato d’ Asti, was a standout, leaving a lasting impression on all who tasted it.
Final stop was at La Rosa Vino where attendees enjoyed glasses of Aura Madre, Lambrusco Italy. Lucky raffle winners went home with bottles of wine
